The Old Man

The Old Man

My grandmother’s house is in a village somewhere in Majalengka. This happened the night while my sister at that time locking the house gate because it was already late.

“Ma’am, where is the central village square?” An old man ask my sister from outside gate with a strong Sundanese accent.

He was dressed in a batik neatly carrying a gift in his right hand as if he was going to attend an invitation in the central. My sister immediately replied, “Just go straight here, Sir.”

“Thank you.” The old man nodded as he continued his journey.

After locking the gate my sister looked towards the road through the hole in the gate. The quiet street make everything look creepy.

But where was that old man? He is not visible anymore? Even though my sister was sure it would not take long to lock the gate. All that was seen was only a headless man with his head carried in his right hand walking towards the village central… He disappeared in the shade of trees.

Oh no! Then my sister run quickly from the gate and locked the house door.
