The distance from my house to the office is not too far, only about a kilometer or so. I always walk from home to work, and vice versa. There was actually a shortcut that brought it a few hundred meters closer, unfortunately the place was notoriously haunted, and no one dared to pass through there at night.
Incidentally one night I came home late from work, plus my condition at that time was not so healthy. That’s why I chose to walk through the shortcut because I was lazy to walk. I honestly don’t care what people say about the haunted place, of course I just want to get home quickly.
The shortcut is very dark, because the position is behind the houses of residents. Not to mention of minimal lighting and lots of shrubs. The longer I feel the more uncomfortable, making me speed up my pace. During my hasty steps, I tripped over something and I fell. I turned on my cell phone, and saw what tripped me with the help of the cell phone light. My heart almost broken as soon as I found out what it was.
It turned out to be an old tombstone, only about a third of the height of a normal tombstone, I knew it was a tombstone because of its distinctive shape and beside it was a border like… a grave. I’ve been walking in the old cemetery area! No wonder no one wants to pass here at night. Not enough of that, then I saw the tombstone shaking. This is impossible because I stumbled like a minute ago, but the movement of that tombstone is getting faster. I immediately got up and ran as fast as I could. Then when I got home I went straight to bed.
In the morning my body felt heavy, it seemed that I was too lazy to go to the office. Even when I walk to the bathroom my steps are very heavy. It was like a weight was pressing on my leg. But I didn’t see anything strange about my feet. Maybe it’s because I fell last night. Since maybe I didn’t think my wound was that bad, I decided to go to my office.
But my feet are more difficult to walk. The distance that I usually travel in 15 minutes to the office now has to take me more than half an hour. My co-workers also looked at me strangely. Some of them even asked me what happened. I just replied that I fell last night and until today has not recovered. After that, many of my co-workers suggested that I should go visit a doctor. Well, there is a public clinic nearby.
The next day when I went to the clinic, my feet still felt heavy, my body was getting weaker. Worried that there will be serious internal injuries if left unchecked. But when I had just walked a few dozen meters, someone I didn’t know came up to me, asking what had happened to me. I just replied that this happened because of a mere fall. But that person just looked at me with a look that made me uncomfortable.
He asked if I had passed through that haunted shortcut the other day and I said yes. I also told him that I had tripped over a tombstone and saw his face change. But before that I asked him how he knew I’d been there.
He replied that he knew of a spirit who was the inhabitant of the old cemetery, and he had seen that since yesterday that figure had been holding my legs together. Looks like he doesn’t want to let go. Maybe that’s why every time I walk, I feel like dragging something. When I asked how he looked, the man said it was a good thing for me not to know or I might faint from fright.
Obviously I’m horrified, imagine all day long I’m with a creature from another world who continues to grip my leg and follow me while I’m away. That person then advised me to immediately go to a healer, then that person immediately left me with the excuse of having business. I haven’t had a chance to ask anything yet though.
I was silent while imagining a scary creature like in the movies holding my leg. I wanted to get rid of him as soon as possible but it seemed impossible. I had to think of positive things to cheer myself up. I also had to go back to my house and call someone I know. Finally with very heavy legs I stepped back towards the house, and I felt more and more weak, my body was getting harder and harder for me to move. I felt like fainting.
When I was trying desperately to walk back to my house, there was someone else who greeted me while looking at me with a look that was no less strange than previous person. When he started talking about what had happened to me, I could immediately guess,
“You want to say what happened to my leg, don’t you?” I asked.
“If I asked you that, you would have felt it yourself.”
The answer was beyond my expectations. Then the person slightly nervously continued his words,
“But, don’t you feel something else? Because I saw that there were several other figures who were also on your back, your shoulders, and above your head…”
