Envy on Internet? These 6 Tips Might Help
As a human, it is certainly natural if we have an insecurity feeling or lack of confidence. Especially in this digital era, we can easily see every moment ‘exhibited’ by anyone on social media, which is tend to be an absolutely fun moment.
Maybe you become happy when one of your friends get their happiness when they travel, get luxury things, get engaged with someone who has good looks, and so forth. But have you ever felt jealous of every happiness that other people upload to their social networks?
“How come he always get something good, huh…? He’s lucky as always.” You say that while you might be in difficult times that need a real struggle to get your way out. You even wondering if those people ever experienced misery.
In fact, just getting greater engagement such as likes or comments can emerge discomfort for some people, who might say in silence, “But my content is even better than him/her…”
These feelings of envy in the most severe cases can lead to criminal actions, while the most common impact of envy is making a person’s life feel more depressed which does not rule out the possibility of committing suicide.
So how do I fight this envy?
Do something productive
How much time do you spend on social networks? Maybe what you do all of the day is just scrolling and scrolling over every piece of content on there. As the result, you’ll find lots of posts from people on the internet aggravate your envy.
After that? You will waste even more time lamenting fate.
Why not start something useful? Why not clean your house? Learn something new? Finish your school or office work? Write or draw something? Exercise your body? You might be happier with little results for glorifying your time.
Go outside
Staying too much in front of your gadget scrolling through social media timeline is not good for your health. Don’t you want to fill your free time by looking for the best place to take a walk like going to the park or something green? Hope you will be more relaxed and can even get some inspirations.
Get a book or an interesting article
Books will still be remain one of the most important elements in your life. When you no longer find anything fun, you can finish the book you have bought or lent from book store.
Or if you don’t find a book, you can browse any scientific articles on the internet that might be interesting for you to read. Why not find out an article about the wonders of God’s creations such as mountains, lightning, aurora, or even outer space? You might become wiser and more humble after that.
Understand the fact
Remember, people are more tend to show success than their failure. Everyone has a balanced problem. And remember that God is The Utterly Just. There’s even a wise word saying that “effort won’t betray the result”.
Indeed, the success of others will be jealousy because all we see is the end result. And even people who have succeeded may still be jealous of others who are more successful in their preferred scope. People who are rich may be jealous of people who have a nicer sweetheart. Everyone already has their own struggles.
I’ve also heard of a celebrity who still complain because they are jealous of his friend who become manager, or have his own business, even though the celebrity already had a luxurious house and car.
Manage your internet time
Curiosity often appears to stalk people in cyberspace, even if you are being restrained by thousands of deadlines. This happened because you were previously too frequent being online every few minutes so that it becomes a personality that is difficult to be omitted. Addictive, as people call it.
Start managing your time from now, you must understand when to be online and focus to your daily activity. People who are successful even have their own time to check his/her email inbox.
Look at yourself
Why do we want to get what others have? Why do we want more attention from people? Remember, social networking is cyberspace. Everything that happens may be filtered. How many people always go on vacation and seem happy when they are litterally depressed almost every day? How many people get their own awards from people when every night they might be scared of their fame?
Look, you have your own uniqueness, you have your own talents and lifelines that other people would not grab if you hadn’t achieved it yourself. And you might realize that your life might have been a mess after you went online too often.
Now get up and make people smile. 🙂
