Boredom on Internet

Do we feel that what we see on the internet is just this and that nowadays? Do we feel that the internet is becoming a pretty boring place because all the ‘space-filled’ contents that we see more and more often showing up and being less creative? Remember we were very enthusiastic about content like that when it first appeared?

Or are we just scrolling through social media and YouTube aimlessly, buried with extraordinary solitude? Do not worry, it is a natural thing, because the internet is actually like television. When in the past we were always eagerly awaiting a television broadcast, today it hasn’t even touched for a few days, or weeks, or years.

Today also, so many ‘new’ people joined the internet, making such mainstream content. No wonder the content is getting ‘raw’ over time even though the quality is pretty good thanks to the tools that make everything less hassle.

For example, in the past, we would love watching prank on a TV shows such as ‘tricking’ people in a very creative way until our stomachs were swayed by the sound of our laughter. But what most of today’s pranks more or less is just ‘oh’. Likewise with musics, designs, comics, games, and so forth.

It’s not that there is no quality content anymore, but the frequency is actually getting rare because there are many new players who want to quickly become famous and viral. As a result, we are bridled by emptiness, glued to the screen as if desperately looking for fresh and original entertainment.

I myself am one of them. Maybe 10 cents from me will help you to have some quality time and to kill your boredom on the Internet:

Oh yeah, before that, there was a smile from me: 🙂

Browse anti-mainstream content

Why not just for fun to know how the fungus really looks like that? Or examine whether someone can die if struck by lightning, or is there a survivor? Or are you curious if there are horror stories in isolated areas like Africa or even Antarctica? How did the beautiful aurora emerge? Or just studying your religion more deeply so that you will be closer to God?

So much inspiring content we can browse while bored on the internet. In fact, we can download several bundles of PDFs and videos then enjoy them offline while waiting for a plane or traveling to an area that is still difficult to get a signal.

Unfollow mainstream people

Why do we like to stay on Instagram and Youtube for a very long time? I’m pretty sure it is because they have an algorithm that can find out our tastes based on the video or picture we watch so they offer content “that you might like”. This is why we are increasingly bored the longer looking at the screen in the peak of our addictive surfing in cyberspace.

Computers are still computers with one-way algorithms and they don’t care about how we are at the time. Computers are not human who might understand our boredom and offer something else. At the final we will realize that the more they offer, the more bland and not entertaining contents they have.

Why not filtering out who we follow, especially those who don’t even know how good content can be created, or they who just follow trends blindly so we can openly see another world.

Download productivity apps

Make a note of the targets you set at the beginning of every year. Aren’t you tired of the same targets you are constantly updating with different style without having achieved anything except a little and the impact is just not that great on your life? Whereas all you do is look at the screen again and again until tomorrow is almost the end of the year.

You will really feel very screwed at that time, where your age no longer has a compromise that makes us unprepared in facing the next stage of life. Plus the reality, the prices of houses and vehicles are getting higher and loan sharks both offline and online have ready to ‘strangle’ you with their high interest.

Why not now you look for apps that might benefit you like productivity-themed apps. I’m sure it’s very much spread over the application stores that you can download for free. Starting from excercise category apps, management, blogging, drawing, yoga, even making your own music. Of course you can use those apps when you are beaten with boredom without mercy.

Look for old school games

If you are a gamer, it would not hurt you to avoid mainstream games or even eSports to minimize the feeling of being stuck in your mind because the gameplay is pretty dull and no longer creative.

Why don’t look for old school console games and see how they are truly creative in making graphics, music, and their bosses. Who knows, from there you will get a ‘click’ and imagine what you have to do with that inspiration.

Open Google Doodle

You’ve already know that Google’s logo often changes if there’re important events or commemorating a figure? That’s Google’s doodle, visit their page to see a lot of doodles created by Google. There are lots of interactive doodles that you can play. Hope it can help you kill time while waiting for something.

Stalking

Yep right. Stalking people on social networks. Why, why not? They uploaded their public content and they were assumed to be agreed with the publicity police. Then what is the purpose of stalking? Besides you can save your time, you can also learn how that person’s life.

Some people like to upload sensitive contents even if it’s just a little controversial confiding. From there you can learn even subjectively about the behavior diversity of each person on social media. How many people upload their ‘luxury’ but still complain with an ordinary complaint at the same time?

Look for culinary and holiday references

Your boredom might happens because you don’t have someone to greet and chat with. As a result, you spend hours on the gadget screen that doesn’t want to know your needs and sadness. It doesn’t feel like tomorrow is almost coming to makes you more sad.

Why don’t look for a place to walk around that could get you a new atmosphere? Maybe like a unique restaurant or cafe with a cozy interior that makes you look classy. $5-1o is enough to keep you going for hours on it. Don’t forget to bring a reading book, okay?

Or you need a reference to re-pump your motivation like a trip to a place that has natural nuances like beach, mountain, waterfall, or even just a small garden in the middle of city. Going alone is fine if the reference is quite reliable.

Look for inspiration and motivation

Yes, inspiration and motivation, both. You can browse websites that have content of unique designs to decorate your home, your room, your workplace, such as unique clocks, unique decorations, decorating tips, DIY, and so on. Usually these designs are very catchy and out of the box.

Sure you will have new quality activities that would make your friends jealous than just being exposed to mini radiation from your electronic devices.

Listen to ‘wild’ musics

I hardly know what songs nowadays that are good because neither I find melody nor lyric that can last long in my gadget. Most of today’s musics are pretty dull and uninspiring, rarely I get a ‘real’ ones. There’s some quite good songs I admit, but I don’t remember any. I prefer older songs, which are still have weight on every aspect, from melody, beat, tune, and lyric.

Why, usually songs like that have a strong emotion to be listened to with extraordinary meaning. In the past I got a lot of musics that have sad lyric, but the tempo and the tune are actually motivating and make me want to do something else, which is useful at least for myself.

I usually listen to an Evergreen songs collection from 80-90, Disney songs, music groups like The Beatles, The Bee Gees, and ABBA.

Turn off the internet

These are the most common, clearest, and most difficult tips at the same time. Turn off the internet, go back to work, get back to your activities, take a walk, and exercise.

Clean the room, help others, buy something, take the bus to get around the city, greet the neighbors, chat with them. The benefits to be gained will make you happier than just surfing in a digital area that you don’t even know where you are.

Do it now, because you want happier life. 🙂
