Music is haram in Islam But I Love to Listen to Music

Music is haram

“Music is haram in Islam but I like listening to music, I am a musician, I am a composer, or at least I am just a music lover. I hesitate to convert to Islam because of this.”

My dear friend, you see, there are actually two opinions regarding music in Islam. Some are proscribing music (haram), and there are those who allow listening music but with terms and conditions that apply.

Why, why is Islam so strict with music that it is forbidden?

Oh dear, don’t worry, I am Muslim too and I enjoy listening to music. What is your favorite music, dear? I like listening to various types of music with good tones. In fact, I collect musics from games, cartoons (especially Disney), to old songs like The Beatles, Michael Jackson, to ABBA. Oh, I also like listening to instrumental songs like Jazz and Orchestra.

But why did someone forbid music? Even those who allow it are on certain condition.

So, what do you think if you listen to music while killing other people? Of course it’s forbidden right? Yes, that is why listening to music is haram. Or it is worried if someone listens to music too much, he will be neglectful and forget their obligations, especially their obligations with their Lord. This is why there is a very cautious opinion that music is haram in Islam.

There is also an opinion that says that music is permissible in Islam but with some conditions it must be met, I think it should be. Why? As I mentioned above, don’t let us listen to music too much so that we fall for it and forget our obligations, or even fall into prohibited acts. That is not allowed.

Moreover, listening to music excessively is not good for human emotions, because it is worried that it can make the heart harden so that it is difficult to accept advice from others. Sometimes too, listening to music too often can make the heart suddenly lose control, such as sadness coming for no reason and so on. Try, dear friends, to consult with a psychologist about this fact, hope you can understand why there are some opinions that prohibit music in Islam.

But my friends, I understand, because I also enjoy listening to music. If you wants to listen to music, then listen as long as it is not too much. But when did listening to music get to the stage of being excessive? You know the measure better.

Oh yeah, I was also listening to music while writing this. Sometimes music with a beautiful tone can stimulate the mind to get some really great inspiration, bring happiness.

So my dear friends no longer have to worry about not being able to listen to music in Islam anymore.
